Because I have another home in Eat Charlotte in a neighborhood with lots of trees, I have gathered a little bit of experience regarding the street sweeper operation. I have had fallen trees and limbs recently at my home in East Charlotte, on my sidewalk and into the street.
What has happened is that with the recent cuts in city budgets, they are coming out a lot less becuase of lack of money to pay staffing, operate machinery, ongoing gas price increases to run the equipment. I recommend if you see limbs and trash in the street, be a good citizen and move them out of the way. Most of the items can't be picked up any further than the weekly solid waste/landscape material pick up from now on. Put it in a pile. Also the city is asking citizens to clear the rain drains of leaves and debris so our water system can be stay clean and clear.
And they don't consider all those oak pollen junk peices any determent. I have swept the gutter and the street in front of both houses to improve water flow. It only takes a few minutes to do this and ...
You know - it is just good citizenship to do this.
