Pinewood Needs More Volunteers! ASAP

Posted in: Madison Park

We received the below plea for help from Ms. Wardy.  If you are not a registered volunteer with CMS, please consider getting registered and helping in any area below.

This is the time of year that we once again realize how critical volunteers are to our success. We literally are not able to function without HUNDREDS of people supporting our end-of-year efforts. Please allow us to take the opportunity to share with you some of the needs we have at this point.

1. **************Proctoring Testing: Our most dire need***************

a. Please respond back with days you are able to help. End of grade testing is the week of May 16-May 19. Every single classroom (including small groups) in the building will need an extra human hand involved to stand/walk/monitor while students take the test. No experience needed, but the tests begin at about 7:45/8:00 and could go on for potentially 4 hours.

b. You can volunteer 1, 2 ,3 or all 4 days of testing as your schedule allows.

c. As of now, we have 3 of the 45 people needed.

d. You would have to attend a 45-minute training the week prior to testing. This can be done around your schedule if you cannot attend the meeting.

e. E-mail beth.wardy@cms.k12.nc.us to volunteer for test proctoring ASAP. Please include name and days you can be here May 16-May 19.

2. Office Help: We could always use extra help in the office, but there are a few days coming up that we actually will have no secretaries available! They are going to mandatory professional development and we need volunteers in the officeto help answer phones and be a friendly greeter as people come to visit or pick up children. Please e-mail me: beth.wardy@cms.k12.nc.us if you can help on the following days: May 10 or June 17th 7:00am-2:30. Any length of time is appreciated! We need you!

3. We still need mentors to meet and eat lunch with select fifth grade students once a week to just touch base and show them that someone cares about them and are interested in how they are performing. I have fifth graders begging me to look harder for mentors… They are jealous of the other kids that have a community "lunch buddy". Fifth grade each lunch about 12 until 12:30… Please consider!

Please sign on to your login on www.cmsvolunteers.com and log ALL hours you are doing anything to volunteer for our school. Many times, financial donors match volunteer hours and we would love for you to help us show all the hours we know you are here! Even if it has been months past, please go back and log. It will help! Signing on to the computer in the office does not log the hours. You must be able to sign in online with your username and password and "log" hours.

Thanks to those of you that have volunteered.   Please share this info with your churches in the area that you attend in case any of your members have time to volunteer.

Proctors are still needed.   You need to go through the CMS Clearance which is an online process.  To sign up as a volunteer send beth.wardy@cms.k12.nc.us an e-mail at once.

There is test proctoring training Tuesday May 10th at 2:00 PM.  If you can't make the training contact  Natashia Pegram she can help you out. (natashia.pegram@cms.k12.nc.us).

Mr. Doss,

We are in need for proctors on Wednesday, May 18 .  Thanks for spreading the word!

Trish
