Fireworks

Posted in: Madison Park

New years eve, and July 4th seem to bring on the random firework blasts in celebration of the holiday...However, I have been hearing very loud fireworks going off very late at night, and even into the wee hours of the morning.  I am all for a little celebration and understand that fireworks are part of that process for some.  However, even into last night (January 2nd) I still heard them.  They do not bother me as much as they bother my 2 dogs...they are so scared and the blasts on January 1st at 2:30am woke me up out of a deep sleep.  I don't want to rain on anyones party, but, am wondering if anyone knows where they are coming from?  I think they are either coming from the Magnolia Apartments on Park Road, or the Abbey place apartments back behind the park road/abbey place intersection.  Isn't there a noise ordanance or something that is being violated?

Fireworks are illegal in Charlotte.  That said a lot of people shoot them off on the Holiday.

Just call 911 and tell them the general area.  My dogs hate them also. I was in TN for Christmas and the hunters in the woods shooting deer near my families home scared one of my dogs nearly to death.

I will let Officer Hairston know of the noise and perhaps if he is in the area working he can hang in the general area and perhaps put an end to the continuing noise issue.   He is often in the neighborhood so I am sure he will not mind if he is working.

However just in case he is not working do call it in if this problem continues.

FYI from Officer Hairston

It is not a violation of the noise ordinance, there is a law about the type of fireworks that can be possessed and used.  Officers have to catch the person(s) with the fireworks in order to issue that person a citation.   I do not know where they are coming from at this time.  Call 911 if you here them again.
