CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A town hall-style meeting is scheduled Monday night for the "Put a Park in Madison Park" project.

Todd Sherrill from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will provide a quick recap of the progress so far on the site, and Todd Martin, local landscape architect, will lead a brainstorming session.

The first goal of the meeting is to generate ideas for the 5+ acres of open space at the old Pinewood Elementary site.  Are you a parent excited about creating an improved playground, or a dog owner looking for a nice walking path through the space, or an athlete looking for a place to play your favorite sport? Bring your ideas and let them be heard.

The second goal is to have people sign-up to volunteer and help get this venture off the ground.  What are your skills and how can you make a contribution to this effort?  Don't be afraid to toot your own horn and sign-up to help: organize a fundraiser, prepare a budget, write a grant, or provide some labor to help with landscaping.

The whole community will be needed to jump in and help make this a great community space for Pinewood Elementary and local Madison Park residents.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday at Pinewood Elementary.
