Department of Social Services Friends and Community Partners:


 
As most of you know, Mecklenburg County Government, in order to deal with a substantial decrease in tax revenues in the current year, has recently completed a reduction in force that will have an impact on how our services are delivered. As a part of that reduction, our Department lost a full-time employee who was responsible for coordinating some of our communication activities, including our Reaching Out e-news mailing. 
 
Mary Wilson, DSS Director, places a very high value on our being engaged with the community. For that reason, she has assigned a small team to assure that Reaching Out continues and that our dialog and partnerships with you remain rich and engaging. 

Please understand there may be some delays and/or oversights as the new team takes over editing and distributing Reaching Out. Remember, we rely on you to help provide us with content, ideas and feedback as we work together to serve those who depend upon us for services.
