WHAT:       The first of five public forums during the months of July and August to give citizens a chance to provide feedback on how Council approves the locations of multi-family affordable housing (Housing Locational Policy).

WHEN:       Wednesday, July 7, 2010

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

WHERE:         St. Matthews Catholic Church

8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277

WHY:            The original policy was created in 2001 to provide Council a guide for the financing and/or development of new affordable housing projects.  The forums will include an overview of affordable housing in Charlotte, a review of the existing Housing Locational Policy, and a presentation of the suggested revisions.

FORMAT:   Attendees will also be broken down into smaller groups to discuss questions such as:

  • “What is important to you in a “Housing Locational Policy?”
  • “Do you think we need an affordable Housing Locational Policy?” and
  • “Do you agree with the proposed changes to the Housing Locational Policy?”
    • If not, what do you suggest?

OTHER:        All public input from the forums will be presented to the Housing and Neighborhood Development Committee in late August.

If citizens are not able to attend one of the designated forums, they may email questions and comments to HLP@charlottenc.gov.
