311 Reduced Hours starting July 10th

Posted in: Madison Park

Beginning on July 10, the City’s 311 one-stop informational line will stop providing 24/7 service to the public.   This change is taking place so their staffing can be realigned to better meet the goals of the unit.  The hours they will be providing service is from 7AM-8PM. Crime related calls will be routed to the CMPD Crime Reporting Unit (CRU) until 1 AM.  After 1 AM, callers will be directed to the website or told to call back after 7AM.

911 service will continue to be available at all times. This change affects the 311 informational line only. If you need police/medic/fire assistance, call 911.

Remember there are a number of services you can enter 24/7 online.

Online services are available 24/7.  The reduction in hours was part of the FY2011 budget approved June 7 by the Charlotte City Council. The reductions are based on recommendations made by City Manager Curt Walton, as part of an effort throughout city departments to identify opportunities to reduce department operating budgets without affecting service delivery.  As approved, the reductions to 311 eliminate service between the hours of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., the time period when the call volume is the lowest.  Customer representatives have been reassigned to the operating hours to enhance service delivery during highest call volume periods.

No personnel were affected by the change in service hours. Seven agent positions and a supervisor were reassigned to work during the hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m
