Greetings Neighbors,
Yesterday Officer Hairston located two of the ADT door-to-door solicitors near Wensley Dr. after a resident called police. It turns out the solicitors are working for a legitimate company. The company is called Secure Watch located off W.T. Harris Blvd. Secure Watch is an authorized dealer of ADT alarm systems. Anyone working for this company or ADT will have on them a company issued identification card, ADT clothing of some sort, and brochures or other printed material from ADT.
I have spoken with the regional manager with ADT about this issue. The regional manager advised this company, Secure Watch, does employ the door knock method of advertising and they go out into neighborhoods in car loads and spread out on foot. I expressed our concerns regarding the scare tactics being used by some of these solicitors and the lack of professionalism by the solicitors. The regional manager was very receptive to my information and was genuinely displeased with the negative reports. As he put it, they may be working for another company but they still represent ADT. His expectations were higher for anyone using the ADT name. The regional manager is going to address the issue with Secure Watch.
This does not mean Secure Watch will end its door-to-door campaign. Hopefully they will be more tactful with their future practices. If any of you continue to encounter unprofessional ADT salesmen please feel free to contact me and I will pass the information along to the manager. Many thanks to all of you that passed along information regarding this issue.
