Highly Suspicious and Creepy male in old white Astrovan

Posted in: Madison Park

Hello everyone, my name is Amy and I live on Montford.  I have filed 4 police reports about a middle eastern man in his 30's - 40's, thin - driving an old white ford or mercury.  The first report I filed after he kept driving by me and my toddler daughter while we were out walking one early evening in July.  He drove slowly past us twice, leering, then as we walked up Montford towards Bayberry, he was parked on the side of the road we were walking on about 15 feet ahead of us with his engine idling and his trunk popped.  I picked up my daughter and began to quickly walk home.  I heard a car approaching behind me and realized it was him.  I ran with my daughter in my arms up to a house.  Two very nice men helped us; one got in his car to chase the man down while the other phoned the police.  The police in the area detained the suspect and questioned him about what he was doing in the neighborhood.  The police who came by to speak with us afterwards reported that he was highly suspicious, would not allow his car to be searched (his right without propable cause - so basically he has to commit a crime before his car can be searched by force - nice eh?!?). I saw the man three additional times, twice out running by myself and once while running with my daughter in a jog stroller on a Sunday afternoon around 1:00 in August.  I have not run or walked in my neighborhood since the last sighting.  I saw this man two weeks ago driving a white Ford Astrovan, and my husband saw this man today driving a white Ford Astrovan (older).  He drove slowly by our house and leered at our daughter.  PLEASE get his license plate # if you see him and call the police immediately.  We have notified the police that he is driving a different car now, but he could switch back to the old white mercury.  This man does not live anywhere near this neighborhood, and has no reason to be driving through this neighborhood on a regular basis.  He is a creep, and his intentions are clearly not good.

Thanks,

Amy Thanks for the post.

I am sending this directly to Sgt. Hulsey the Response Area Commander for Madison Park and Officer Patrick Hairston our community officer to make sure they are aware of these reports you have been making.

I know we have someone that drives around in an older van that collects metals in our neighborhood each week, but does not sound like the person you are describing.  There is normally two people in the van and they don't live in the community.

Everyone needs to be alert of any suspicious activity and do as our Community Watch signs say can call 911 to report any and all suspicious activity.   If everyone would call things in....the people in our area up to NO good will get the Clear Picture they are not going to get away with committing crimes in our community.   CMPD always says that our eyes are better than their eyes.  We know who belongs in our community.  Officers driving through our streets don't really always know.

This guy drove by my wife a couple times last week as she was walking with our toddler.

The police are keeping a heavier presence in our neighborhood over the next few days.   So hopefully if this person or anything else happens and residents call 911 they will be able to respond very quickly.
