We had received an e-mail indicating that plowing should take place around 6 p.m. on 11/29.   As of 7:15 a.m. on 11/30 our driveway had not been plowed....same for other neighbors.  

 

The streets on 87th, Frazier had been plowed.  Ghia down by our home had only one lane plowed --- leaving a pile that one needed to get over to get to the open lane.  

 

As I was leaving for work I ran into a driver of the new plowing company.   I kindly expressed my concern regarding the Ghia Street situation.   He stated that his company only "did a cut out" so that another driver could finish the work order today.  

 

Frankly, the 1st impression of the new company is not positive.   Most of us can tell the difference between 6 p.m. previous day and 7 a.m. the next day.  On the other hand, I don't think any of us want to take the huge Association fee hike that Randy Reichert mentioned to me.  

 

Perhaps the Landscape & Street committee can calibrate the Association's expections for the new service.  

They finally did my sidewalk but did a very poor job. Driveway is still not done at 817 am.  

We just flagged down a plow and he said we were last on the list as far as places to go. Doesn't seem to relate to their previous email that told us crews would be out at six.

I'm sure our able buildings and ground team will work with the vendor to communicate residents' disappointment, and the vast gulf between services promised and services delivered. I'd like to respond to the economic question that kicked off this discussion. For me, snow removal is my highest priority in HOA services. Gaps in lawn care don't bother me (long grass and under-watered lawns don't create traffic accidents or falls), but poor snow removal is more than inconvenient--it's dangerous for many reasons. Given out-of-control labor costs and availability, we may not be able to avoid a major price increase. And if those increases call for an increase in HOA fees, I would rather pay that increase than live with the risk and inconvenience of inadequate snow removal.
