So you think you know everything

Scissors inventer?

You state... Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors...

I say... These are just some of the references I've come across as to who invented scissors!

Modern cross blade scissors were invented in Rome in about 100 AD. The common use of scissors began in about the 1500s AD in Europe.

Scissors as we know them today (two metal arms pinned together) were invented in the 10th century, having evolved from bronze age pincers of metal bent in a U shape which worked with a kind of spring action.

Scissors were invented thousands of years ago (roughly 1500 B.C.) in ancient Egypt. Early scissors have been found in ancient Egyptian ruins. These early scissors were made from one piece of metal (unlike modern scissors, which are made from two cross-blades which pivot around a fulcrum).

Modern cross-bladed scissors were invented in ancient Rome (roughly 100 A.D.). Early scissors were used by clothes makers and barbers. Scissors were not in common use until much later, in the 1500's (in Europe).

The type of scissors that you use for school projects probably have pivotable blades. They are the ones with two blades connected by a rivet or screw just above the handle. This type of scissors made with bronze or iron were first used in ancient Rome and China, Japan and Korea.

But it wasn't until 1761 when Robert Hinchliffe of Sheffield, England first used cast steel to manufacture this type of scissors that large-scale production was born.
Jean-Claude Margueron of Emar in Fourteenth Century BC invented Scissors [1]. Scissors are one of the oldest surgical instruments used by surgeons
