Indian Hills

Adult Pool Party, Sat. 8/17

Aug 07, 2002

WHO SAID THERE IS NOTHING TO DO?

The Indian Hills Adult pool party will be Saturday August 15 from 7-?. We?’ll try to not offend the noise ordinance. The Spin Doctors will be jammin?’ the music and food and adult beverages will be included in the $12.50 per person or 25.00 a couple. It?’s a double dip of an entertainment bargain and a good time. Come meet a new neighbor.

HOT=POOL
A warm summer so far, and as you might expect, the Indian Hills pool has been getting plenty of use from swimmers of all ages. Many people have remarked the water temperature has never been better. Our pool is open daily though Labor Day.
The pool is available on a rental basis on weeknights from 7:00 to 10. Come talk to the lifeguards if you are interested.

The swim team has won all of their meets to date. Come see an energetic group. You can be a lane timer!

DIRECTORY UPDATE

Enclosed is a card for use in our annual update of the Indian Hills Directory. You should complete and return the update card if you moved into the neighborhood after May 31, 2001 or if your entry in the last Directory contained errors.

Don?’t forget to add new pet or baby-sitters and fledgling landscapers/snow pushers.

QUARTERLY IHRA
BOARD MEETING

The IHRA board met 7/16/02 at Murnane?’s. The newsletter will attempt to summarize the points of interest and ?“general information?” that you may find informative.

Subjects of a general interest:
1) Annual October Meeting Discussion about increasing attendance at annual meeting in October. A potluck, babysitting and transportation assistance and a more social atmosphere were discussed. Please talk to a board member if you have ideas about getting more neighbors to attend. This is a vote that is literally affecting your neighborhood
2) A credit union is being considered for Indian Hills residents through BMI. Board members are researching feasibility. Put your 2 cents in to a board member.
3) Although October is a long way off, the Nominating Committee is looking for people who wish to run for the elected board positions this year. Elections this year include the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Assistant Secretary. In addition, one Trustee position is up for election. Please contact Jack Conner, Mary Cohee, or Betsy Smalldon (Nominating Committee members) if you have questions. An active democracy is a strong democracy.
4) The recently enacted noise ordinance in the City of Columbus has given teeth to a previously weak interpretation. Some neighbors have had success in involving the police, who now have the ability to ticket offenders. Direct your questions to Gini Peloquin, Blockwatch Chair.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Financials are not available in this issue due to reformatting. If you have specific questions please contact Jane Matson, Treasurer.

WELCOME ACTIVITIES CHAIR LISA PUHLICK

Lisa Puhlick has been busy! As our new Activities Director, she wrote the following piece about her initial efforts

The 4th of July ?“bicycle Decorating Contest?” and ?“Parade to the Pool?” was a great success! We had more than 50 children, young and old. The paraders met at Tulip Hill Court at 11:00 a.m. and proceeded to the pool via Winstead, Spring Grove, Sedgwick, Greenridge, and Rocky Rill Roads. A ?“Best Decorated?” Award went to 4 children and one ?“over 40 but in the spirit?” winners. The pool was open to anyone who wished to spend their day there and various children and adult contests were held. With over 80 prizes being won by the children, a great time was had by all that attended. Thank you to all whom attended and helped!
I welcome any and all ideas and suggestions for community activities. I can be reached at 885-8929. You may reach a business recording, but please leave a message. Some other ideas: area wine and cheese tasting at the pool, neighborhood euchre club, pot luck in the common area east of the pool (with babysitters at the tennis courts) for the general meeting of the Indian Hills Community on October 5th, 2002. Please mark your calendars for that day and plan on giving your input about our great community.

SUCCESS

You can use most any measure

When you?’re speaking of success

You can measure it in a fancy home.

Expensive car or dress

But the measure of your real success

Is one you cannot spend.

It?’s when your kids describe you

When they?’re talking to a friend
