NEIGHBORHOOD GARAGE SALE SET FOR MAY 10TH

Our annual Indian Hills Garage Sale will take place on Saturday May 10th starting at 9:00 a.m. The Association will purchase classified ads in local newspapers, and signs will be put up at the entrances. This is a rain-or-shine event, and a good way to get rid of some stuff and make a buck in the process.

EASTER EGG HUNT A BIG HIT
The annual Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday March 22nd at the pool parking lot. The kids collected lots of yummy Easter candy, and the big folks enjoyed coffee and donuts. The one and only Easter Bunny was there and was in rare form. (E.B. may have had one cup of coffee too many.) After being cooped up all winter, it was nice to see so many people, and everyone had a great time! Thanks to Kristin Zerkle and her helpers for organizing this fun event.

THE ?“BLIZZARD?” OF ?‘08
OK, it may not have been a blizzard technically, but it sure was a heck of a winter storm. On March 7th and 8th, we were hit with a 20-inch snowfall, a record 24 hour accumulation. Snow shovels and snow blowers (and people) got a workout. Kids had a blast. Hope you made it through without too much trouble. The fellow who provides our plowing service did a very good job. He worked hour after hour to keep our streets as clear as possible in such extreme weather.
The storm was certainly a memorable end to winter! Now on to warmer thoughts . . .

POOL & TENNIS APPS ENCLOSED
Enclosed with this issue are applications for 2008 Pool and Tennis memberships. (These forms are attachments for our email recipients, and are also available on our website.)
The pool will be open to all free of charge on Memorial Day, May 26th. Friday nights include bargain-priced hotdogs, burgers and brats. We will schedule one or two movie nights. Last year?’s inaugural ?“corn-hole?” tournament was a big hit. Look for a couple tournaments this season. The pool can be rented for after-hours private parties. Rental fee is $75 plus lifeguards. Swim lessons are available, with both morning and evening sessions. Our swim team may merge with the Sycamore Hills team and join a league. Swim team fees and schedule will be announced later. Pool memberships are available for non-residents as well as residents. (Our website has applications for both.) Please invite your friends to join! And of course, you can use the pool on a walk-up basis by paying the daily guest fee, or purchasing a book of guest passes.
The tennis courts are clean and in good shape, and lights are available for night play. Payment of the membership fee will get you the combination to the court?’s lock. We will again offer beginning tennis lessons for kids.
If you have any questions, please contact Pool Chair Tammie Dondero, Tennis Chair John Hoffman, or Bob Jacobsen.

GOOD NEIGHBOR BASICS
?“Outdoor weather?” will soon be upon us. Now is a good time to remind one and all that our own deed restrictions (posted on our website) and city zoning, health and traffic codes (linked on our website) give us some common-sense rules for being neighborly and maintaining property appearance and value. With paraphrased language, the following rules relate to issues dealt with from time to time by the Executive Board:
RV?’s, boats, trailers, campers, commercial vehicles, etc. can?’t be stored in your driveway, yard, or on the street. They may be stored in your garage, or off-site. (IH Restr.Cov. & City Code)
Inoperable vehicles must be in an enclosed garage. (City Code)
No on-street parking in the same spot for over 72 hours. (City Code)
All lots and yards should be free of trash, debris, hazardous objects, dead trees, lumber, machinery, indoor furniture. (IH Restr.Cov. & City Code)
Grass, weeds and brush should be kept under control and cut/trimmed regularly. (IH Restr.Cov. & City Code)
Signs in a yard, on a vehicle, or on a building which advertise or promote a business are not allowed. (Exceptions are realtor for-sale signs and contractor signs during ongoing projects.) (IH Restr.Cov. & City Code)
Dogs should not be allowed to bark outside hour after hour. (City Code)
Most excavation and building projects require city building permits and IHRA Executive Board approval. (IH Restr.Cov. & City Code)
These friendly reminders are but a few of the ?“rules?”, but they?’re good ones to know. We don?’t have chronic problems in any of these areas in Indian Hills, and we?’d like to keep it that way.
TO ERR IS HUMAN . . .
To really screw things up requires a computer! Somehow, during the prep-aration of the 2008 Indian Hills Directory, the phone numbers of several residents contained mistakes. Our apologies. We?’ll blame the database program. (?“System error ?– yeah, that?’s it!?”) The correct phone numbers are below.

Steve & Sandy Hindall 847-5851

Rosemarie Lisko 985-1150

Dennis & Rosemary Lloyd 888-3135

NEW NEIGHBORS
Please give a warm Indian Hills welcome to these new residents:

David & Valerie Dorsky, 5911 Sedgwick Rd.
Ashley Schmidt, 6077 Rocky Rill Rd.

WE STILL NEED AN ENTRANCES CHAIRPERSON

There continues to be an opening on the Association?’s Executive Board for the appointed position of Entrances Chairperson. Historically, this person has provided oversight and coordination for maintenance of our entrance landscaping, walls and lighting. Also, the Entrances Chairperson will typically arrange for the periodic display of US flags, holiday wreaths, etc. The Entrances Chair has a seat and a vote on the Executive Board, and heads up a committee of resident volunteers who assist with planting, mulching, watering, etc.

Our entrances are a valuable asset to all of us in Indian Hills. They give the critical first impression of our neighborhood. It?’s in everyone?’s best interests that our entrances be maintained and look their best. If you?’re interested in this important function, please contact any Board member.
