Mark your calendars for Boyd Hill Nature Park?’s Wildlife Weekend! During the weekend of March 19 and 20 the Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center at Boyd Hill Nature Park will celebrate nature with the premiere of it?’s new environmental exhibits. There will also be a food booth, exhibits, programs, children?’s crafts and activities, a wildlife plant sale and much more! As a special treat, the park and education center admission is free for the weekend. The Wildlife Weekend event hours will be Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The park trails and educational center will be open until 6:00 p.m. as usual.
The new educational exhibits are a highlight of the Wildlife Weekend celebration. Be among the first to see these colorful and permanent educational displays and learn why Boyd Hill Nature Park is such a precious oasis. The theme of the exhibit is the ?“ripple effect.?” The ?“ripple effect?” demonstrates relationships that link the people, wildlife, land and water together at the park. If something happens to one relationship, ripples of change are sent out causing change for everything else. Among the exhibits will be a scenic display on Lake Maggiore and the out of sight exhibit with a mole tunnel and nocturnal sounds area. The park has undergone some major renovations and improvements in the past couple of years so this is an excellent time to visit and see the what?’s new. Browse through the plant sale area. There will be native plants that thrive despite the insects, heat and sandy soil of our region. There will also be plants to attract butterflies and songbirds. Walk or bicycle on the trails, buy a snack or lunch at the food booth, enjoy an exhibit on bats or a presentation on birds. Explore the park as never before!
