On or around January 14th or 15th one of the homes in the neighborhood was broken into.(2304 Harwood Hills) It appeared to be an inside job in that there was no forced entry and the entry point was left unlocked. The reason for the unlocked door is because the doors lock was inoperable. KB Homes had been notified of the lock and its inability to secure the door and thus the home but due to reasons beyond the homeowners control the situation was not resolved in a timely fashion thus making the burglary an easier accomplishment for the thieves. I intentionally say thieves because the home was completely gutted of all appliances. Refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer & Dryer, microwave etc...I feel that this was apparent to the thieves that this door didn't work and their job would be simple. It could have been a situation where someone visiting the home with the intent to rent the home could have noticed the inoperable door and conjured up ill intentions. Nevertheless break ins have been happening and I'm not sure if people read over my monthly crime report but the crimes are growing in our area and have spilled into our neighborhood. What suggestions would you have? We are starting a Crime and Safety Committee and I like to have the support of the neighborhood in doing so. Seems like a simple request but when I look at the participation of the neighbors in this community for any other event or committee that I can name I don't have much to go on in terms of who will show up and participate. This neighborhood will only be as good or great as we the owners make it. Let's make a difference and let's start by getting some opinions so the Crime and Safety Committee has agendas to tackle.

Neighborhood Break ins

People are frustrated with the way the HOA handles issues. You in essence pit neighbors against each other leading to a less than cooperative environment. If y'all start treating people like human beings then you may get a different response. Just a thought.
