I like that the city has provided two containers for solid waste pickup. However they are too large to easily store. One container takes up as much space as two the size of our previously used container. Having the garbage sit in my garage for a week attracting flies and producing odors is unacceptable and unsanitary. My property is too sloped on the gated side of the house to easily store it in the back yard without dumping a full container when trying to place it at the curb. I have managed to make enough room in my garage for the recycling container. I think the HOA needs to come up with an alternative other than the mass mailed letter recently sent out. Observation shows there are MANY others in the neighborhood with similar issues. What is the answer?

I think you can get a smaller container is available, and if you can't take it too the curb easily are supposed to do that for you as well. Give them a call. I understand for the elderly or handicapped in particular those cans are unsafe because they are so awkward.   The city is trying to save money...this is not unique other states are doing the same thing.

Sorry for the mispellings, was thinking and typing, and did not spell check.  From what I understand smaller containers are available, as well as help if you are having trouble getting the can to the curb.   Try calling the city for assistance.

I believe the easiest and better solution to this problem lies with our board members to make new rules about the location of where out trash cans can be.  We are allowing the city to have their containers on our property and it should not create a burden.  I am having an issue with mine as well.  The only place I can put them is next to my front door hidden behind the pillars.  This creates an odor and attracts flies next to my front door.  My garage is a recreational room and my back gate is locked.  I want to try and persuade our board members to revisit the rules because situations have changed and the trash cans are much larger.
