Having recently connected to the new sewer in another neighborhood, I just wanted all to be informed of a somewhat hidden cost.

While being able to have paid the amount of hook-up right away, 10,000-13,000 to the city and an additional 4000 to a plumber, my wife and I decided to go with the fince option the city offwers. 5% interest rate and $75 a month was resonable to us, I was not pleaseed with the bill coming and seeing that $50 dollars a month in interest charges were paid off the top. I know this is standard loan practice. After speaking to my wife, we decided to pay off this loan. We sent the balance and waited. 1-2 weeks later we received a notice that there would be a $170 charge to remove the lean and process the title. I went through the original paper work looking for this charge and could not find it. What I did find was a small sentence that stated there COULD be a fee associated with the closing of the loan, not that there would be.

So, just be aware of that fact as you consider hook-up to the sewer being installed in our neighborhood.

also remember it will add $40-$60 a month to your water bill.
