A few neighbors have reported having sewer backup the past few weeks. One may have
a broken lateril.
It seems to coincide with heavier rains we've had.
Has anyone had or heard of any incidents of this recently?
If so please post here, we will notify Alderman Murphy as an FYI in conjunction with our
asking for investigation into lateril, breaks, etc. in the neighborhood.
I have had potential lateral break and water main break due to excessively large construction equipment and work done on my street 9 /11 and 9/12. Apparently gas company contrcted work done across street 429 or 431 40th and repaired gas line. Large excavator was unloaded in street over my sewer drain line and then rolled over to work site where concrete was smashed with bucket of excavator repeatedly . No surprise the water main pipe broke in my house after that construction. When service company opened darin valve in basement to drain the 8 inches of standing water , it did not go down right away. Pipes were scanned and diagnosed to be disconnected drain pipe to main sewer and estimated to me 10 to 15 Thousand dollars to repair!!!!!
The leak itself cost me 1700$ out of pocket. This is unreasonable for me to have to cover imprper work and some serious over powering the construction project across the street with no resposibility for ramifications of older infrastucture.
