I have personally hired two different building inspectors during home purchases and saw the performance of another on my neighbors house. Their reports did not even come close to the detail and information that I saw from an inspection conducted by Claude Canipe of canipebuilders.com. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. The report I saw from one of his inspections discovered over 8 NC building code violations. One of those violations is on my home as well. Because of this I am hiring him to conduct a "building code" inspection of my home. If you suspect you have building code violations on your home due to poor construction, poor oversight of subcontractors or you do not believe the seller is being honest with you, I highly recommend you higher Mr. Canipe to conduct an inspection.
Home builders are legally obligated to fix building code violations even if the warranty has expired.
