Everglades Pointe Neighborhood Watch

Encountered a Stranger On Our Street Yesterday

Posted in: Everglades Pointe NHW

While handing out fliers about Neighborhood Watch, I encountered someone who did not live on our street, nor was he visiting a friend...he was "scrapping".  He was hoping to find discarded appliances, metal, etc. so he could sell it at the recyclers. While this is not illegal if the items are left out by the trash, it is a crime to go onto your property or your neighbor's property and remove items without your permission.

If you see criminal activity, especially at vacant homes, do us all a favor and call the Sheriff's Office 239-252-0700 immediately. DO NOT CONFRONT or put yourself at risk...that's what our brave deputies have given an oath to do for you. If it is safe, try to write down as much information as possible; make/model/color of vehicle, description of driver, number of occupants, direction of travel, and/or a tag number.

We're counting on you to do your part in keeping our neighborhood safe and crime-free!

Correction: the phone number to call is 239-252-9300...
