Estates of Winfield

Winfield township web site

Posted in: Estates of Winfield
I sent the following to Mark Malay, the Winfield township assessor...

Mr. Malay:

I'm a resident of Winfield Township. I have recently built a web
site for my neighborhood, the ''Estates of Winfield''. My neighborhood
just happens to straddle both the Winfield and Milton townships.
If you are curious, you can view the ''Estates of Winfield'' web site
at...
http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/winfield/estateswinfield

In order to provide useful content for the people who live in my
neighborhood, I created a web page that provided information about
property taxes and assessments. You can view that page at...
http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/winfield/genpage.html?nid=375727260&nneighid=545653365&nsupercity=689825722

While researching the above web page, I noticed that different
townships have different web property search capabilities. For
example, all of the DuPage county townships (except for Lisle) have
the ability to search for info based on parcel number or street
address.

The Milton Township property search...
http://www.miltontownshipassessor.com/Online_Database/Search_by_page.htm

...has a very nice feature (''Sales Search by Building Type'') which
Winfield Township does not. This ''Building Type'' search really
boils down to ''Search for prior sale data by neighborhood code''.
This feature is VERY handy when looking for information on recent
property sales in your neighborhood, which can be useful if you
are researching an assessment appeal.

For example, to do the same type of search via the Web in Winfield
Township, I would have to...

1. Do a search on every street in my subdivision.
2. Click on each and every parcel that was found (around 80 parcels).
3. Analyze the sales data from each and every parcel.
4. Write down this information and sort it.

I can do the same search in Milton Township in about 5 mouse clicks.

REQUEST

I urge you add a ''Search for sales by neighborhood code''
(similar to Milton Township's ''Sales Search by Building
Type'') on he Winfield Township assessor's web site as soon
as it is technically and economically feasible.

Thanks.

Re: Winfield township web site

Since I'm just one lone voice, if any body else ''out there'' feels that the Winfield Township web site could be more useful by adding a ''Sales by Neighborhood Code'' search, then I urge
you to contact the Winfield township assessors office at 231-3573 or by
sending email to Assessor@WinfieldTownship.com

Please send me email if you have questions.
