Who will monitor the cameras?

Who will monitor these cameras?  They should not be monitored in another homeowner's home.  We went through the the right to privacy a few years ago when another homeowner had gate entrance information and monitored it in their home.   They joked about knowing when people came and left.  Who can answer this question.  I asked Stephanie and she did not have a clue.

Could there have been a better way of installing these cameras?

As with the streets, it seems as if there was a lack of understanding, planning and follow thru on behalf of the board member that allowed the installation of the cameras.

If you listen to homeowners in Towne Lake, many pride themselves on the esthetics of our community. Now what do we have?

As visitors drive into our community they see video cameras mounted on galvanized steel pipe, reminiscent of the local detention center. I understand that we have a sheriff on our board, but is this the look Towne Lake is shooting for?

One of the sad realities of our society today is the need for increased security.  I agree that the video cameras and poles may be aesthetically offensive but I support the need for such devices to monitor the comings and goings of folks into our neighborhood.  All of us, simply going about our day-to-day business are under mind-boggling surveillence--from the corner Valero convenience to the malls to Wal-Mart to traffic lights--never mind getting on an airplane.  Arguably there are two ways to look at the cameras: as a local detention center mode or as a neighborhood concerned with the safety and welfare of its residents.  I believe our BODs has the latter in mind.  What say you BODs?

The "Sheriff" is not on the board anymore and had nothing to do with this.

From what I can tell the cameras on the pole in the island are not even hooked up!!

As far as monitoring goes, no one needs to sit and watch them, you just review the recordings once there is a problem.

I agree, it looks crappy and was done cheaply, however I support the cameras. I have been a police officer for 10 years including Chief of Police and being proactive helps alot. As I said, I have 4 cameras installed on my house, and I can see everything around me. Does that mean I log who goes where? No, of course not.

I really think we should have the instal re-done

Pretty much everywhere you go has cameras. It is a fact of life.
