ESSI-Expo Rangers Awarded Conference Registration Fee Waivers

All 9 ESSI-Expo Ranger Public Land Corps panelists received full fee waivers for registration fees for the Joint Ventures Partners in Stewardship 2003 Conference, Nov 18-20 at the LA Convention Center. Earth Systems Science, Inc. and the Expo Neighbors Environmental Group/Expo Rangers are grateful for the support and generosity of the Joint Ventures organizing committee in providing these fee waivers.

The panelists are, 3 adults and 6 youth include officers of Earth Systems Science, Inc. and Expo Neighbors Environmental Group (members of NPCA/LACP), and youth from Expo Rangers, THEFLABA, and Esperanza. True to the spirit of the NPCA cultural diversity program, the panelists range in age from 21-57, include 4 females and 5 males, and includes 2 African Americans, 1 American Chinese , 1 Filipina, 1 Thai, and 4 Hispanics. Additionally, there will be two NPS representatives(one each from SAMO and MANZ).

Our panel presentation was combined with a group from Seattle also reporting on Public Land Corps (PLC) grants. The panel presentation will be given on the first day of the conference, Nov 18.

Description: Come learn from two community partnership programs that involve today's youth in meaningful park experiences that develop student's job skills and connections to their land. Case studies will highlight successful Public Land Corps programs. Special emphasis will be placed on partners, working with diverse youth and community groups, and linking home communities with parks.
