AS YOU ALREADY KNOW - the central and southern parts of the United States have seen some very severe weather during the past months....and I would predict, that more is to come. What about here in New England? As of late, we have had lots of rain and recent weather reports predict more rain with heavy downpours, wind, and possible thunderstorms with hail... Here in Grafton, we should be prepared for the worst - why? Just because we literally do not live in "Tornado Alley" - it can happen! Severe weather is always a threat - no m atter where you live.... I am certain that you have noticed that the weather patterns have indeed changed over the past several years, in fact - drastically. My plants say it all - they do not know whether to bloom or hibernate - for one day, it is in the 70's, and the next - we have frost!!!
By now, you are probably asking: "How does this relate to Neighborhood Watch?" Think about it for a moment - if the bad weather causes devastation in our local area, what do YOU have to be leary of??? For one thing - muggers and looters.... Look at what happened with Hurrican Katrina in New Orleans.... I hope we do not have to declare Marshall Law here in Grafton, or call out the National Guard to keep the peace....but once again, you never know, right? In 1953, we had devastating floods and a tornado - one that ripped right through Worcester....that is only a few miles away!!!! My advice - Stay Alert at ALL times especially when severe weather is predicted. Don't only think about safety, which of course is paramount when it comes to protecting your family....but go one step further, and think about "worst case scenarios that deal with CRIME" also! Remember - "It can happen...."
