Your Community Needs You!
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
As you know, there are several concurrent initiatives being undertaken at this time to shape the future of Wimauma.
Building on the Wimauma Redevelopment Plan of 1979, The Hillsborough County
Planning & Growth Management Department formed a working committee of citizens to help create and implement a Comprehensive Community Plan in December 2004. The draft goals and strategies were recently presented to the Wimauma community at a public
meeting on August 22, 2005.
The Wimauma Citizen?’s Improvement League, Inc. has re-formed with new officers and is currently in the process of filing for corporate, tax-exempt status.
And, the Hillsborough County Housing & Community Code Enforcement (along with the Sheriff?’s Office and civilian volunteers) is working diligently to obtain Official Recognition as
a Weed & Seed site.
Although the Wimauma Community Plan Working Committee has already established goals and strategies that were rolled-out last month, it is not too late to get involved with activities that will strengthen our community.
This community needs to hear from you!
I am not an activist - rather a concerned, involved resident of Wimauma who wants to have a say just like you. I am a member of the Weed & Seed Steering Committee, the Community Plan Working Committee, and the Improvement League.
I would like to hear from anyone who wants to work together on strategies that will reduce crime and improve quality of life in Wimauma.
Please get involved now. It is vitally important, in developing our specific plan of action, that we work
cooperatively with the partners in our community, leverage existing resources that are available, and assess community problems and unmet needs.
Any and all suggestions are welcomed for Community Improvement, and for information regarding meeting times for the Improvement League or the Community Council Meetings, please ask.
