Note from June Radtke
Thank You!
Reflections
One Easter Sunday morning, Coventry lost a long-time resident, my husband, Rad (Clarence) Radtke. After being diagnosed in October with inoperable lung cancer, he fought a valiant fight with all the new treatments available, but died at 1:50 a.m. He is sadly missed by many, as he was the patriarch of his family – leaving 17 brothers and sisters!
Many of you may not have had the opportunity to know us even though we became residents nearly 30 years ago. When we built our home on our lot at 4902 West Lake Place, there was only an open filed to the south.
After retiring from a military career, Rad became a Construction Superintendent and formed a construction company and used his broad construction skills until he became too weak. Our family loved the area and frequently entertained family and friends from across the nation. Our seven grandchildren loved to spend time here swimming and playing in the open area. (You probably noticed them, especially during Grandpa Rad’s annual Easter egg hunts.) Through the years, we were sad to have many wonderful friends and neighbors die or move away. Rad’s life revolved around his work, his church, family and especially the grandchildren.
A heartfelt thank you to those of you who cared while he was sick, baked pumpkin pies, cookies, sent cards, brought delicious food to share with the extended families – especially the bounty of warmth shard at the funeral. Your hugs and squeezes were very comforting to me.
In Gratitude,
June Radtke
