Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor
New covenants
When my wife and I decided to buy in CH, we did so partially because we wanted a good neighborhood without overly restrictive covenants. We owned a boat and jet ski, and wanted them readily available during the summer months. It is not arguable that no one has done more to improve a home in this neighborhood than we have. Anyone desiring to come and see the proof of this is welcome any time. Our home was a former foster home in delapidated condition and has been transformed into a showplace, both inside and out. We keep our ''toys'' hidden from view in the winter, and keep them covered and in good repair in the summer.

But we will fight vigorously any attempt, including hiring legal cousel of our own, to alter basic reasons we bought in the first place. If forced to sue to retain our rights, we will seek damages and recovery of court costs. Before the HOA spends any more funds in attorney's fees to ''review the covenants'', this should be considered. If people did not wish to see well-maintained recreational vehicles in driveways during reasonable seasons, they should have bought elsewhere. To say to those of us who bought understanding the rules and wishing to play by them, ''We're going to change the rules now that you've made a huge investment and moved in'' will not happen while we are here, and that will be a very long time.

We are all for keeping properties and landscape in a good state of repair, and would vote for that because that is what we understood when we bought as well.

Respect-O-Meter: Neighbor

Ditto for us.  We bought in CH 5 years ago specifically because travel trailers/RVs were permitted by the covenants.  We will do all that is legally necessary to retain this right to use our property under the conditions and understandings that we purchased it.
