My name is Robin Milcowitz and I'm seeking input from the local community residents in and around the East Tampa CRA area to find out if they might be interested in being a part of a community garden.

One proposed site is the old George Washington School property at the corner of Columbus and Nebraska, which was demolished in 2004 to make room for the I-275 corridor.

If anyone would be interested, in any manner, such as: volunteering to build, plot out, and be involved in the beginning stages of creating a community garden and incorporate ideas for how they see a community garden benefitting the neighborhood, please feel free to comment on this forum and/or email me directly at flicker04@yahoo.com

A community garden can be a number of things to a number of people:  a place to have your own garden plot, a public space for children to get involved in their community and nature, a place to create a market for local vendors and produce, and a host of other ideas that can be incorporated into a basic plan.

I will be meeting with a city official on Monday, January 1st and have hopes to relay that there is a considerable interest in this type of public green space.  Please respond as soon as you can.

Thank you for your interest in our community.
