Complaints to Mayor

Jan 28, 2007

The Mayor has received complaints about flooding in our area during irrigation. They believe the floods are damaging the streets. Gilbert recently passed a revised water crimes ordinance. It is now a misdemeanor in Gilbert to cause water to flow in the streets. The fine is up to $2,500 and/or six months in jail. We do not want Mesa to have to pass this ordinance.

TAKE ALL OF YOUR WATER. You are legally responsible for your water during your time period. The people who are not taking their water can be determined by the times of the overflows. Share your water if you cannot take all of it. Let us know before you sign up if you need help finding someone to share your water.

You may have to set standpipes to get the water into your lateral. We can show you how to correctly set standpipes. Two standpipes were recently severely damaged. In both cases the wheel was turned so hard it smashed the plate into the ground and sheared off bolts. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE VALVES OF THE STANDPIPES. Call us if you don?’t know how to do something. Some people who have been here over 20 years don?’t have a clue how the system works. It?’s never too late to learn. We would rather show you how to do something than have to repair the damage.

There are currently 2 bad street leaks that need to be repaired. Two non users also have bad leaks in their yard. Joints pop when people do not take all of their water. These repairs are going to be very expensive.
