Tuesday last week the pool was extremely busy and only had one life guard on duty. The water slide was not being monitored and kids were coming down in groups of 4 and 5 and head first, all of which we know is not safe, due to the lack of supervision and potential injury, my wife called the management company informing them of the problem. They were extremely rude and informed my wife that they are not required to have 2 guards on duty, and that there was not always 2 guards on duty.
Today, 7/29/2008, the Cherokee authorities arrived to check out the pools water and safety of operation, due to there only being one guard on duty he closed the water slide, stating that it is a safety violation not having a guard supervising the water slide and that the management company will be receiving a citation regarding this issue.
As a former hospital director of engineering, being responsible for all health and safety within the facilities, I am shocked to know that the management company was unaware of the specific regulations regarding the safe operation of pool management and the liabilities both the management and the HOA could have been faced with.
I bring this to your attention as a concerned parent and neighbor.
