I was saddened when the city removed and banned frisbee golf from Hoopes park. My wife & I were just starting to get into it when the course was removed. A lot of people enjoyed going to the park to play frisbee golf, including us; now the park always looks desolate. Is this what we really want for a park in our community? I would like to have a park where there is something to do and where there are enough people around so that you can meet new faces. Today's park certainly isn't that way.

How do others feel about the frisbee golf? Would there be enough interest to try to get the city to bring it back? The city could restrict the hours & days that frisbee golf would be allowed to help minimize noise and congestion if people are concerned about it. I would love to see the return of the frisbee golf.

Are there any other ideas about what can be added to the park to make it fun and a gathering place?

No money left in the budget

Greg, There is no money left in the budget. It was clearly stated in a post in another topic.

The park could be a great place to hold community meetings, events and of course Frisbee golf. But everyone wants monument signs instead, well, only a small portion of people with limited ideas for our community.

I like the park, it?’s a nice park. To bad it has to fall victim to signs that people only see when traveling 45+ miles an hour on the major roads surrounding our community.

No Money Left In Budget

I would just like to point out that the neighborhood is planning to have an event in Hoopes Park this late winter or early spring. This was mentioned on the front page of Sept/October Amberwood North Newsletter.

Gee, maybe I am dumb, but I thought the parks were for everyone to enjoy. The frisbee golf, or disc golf, limits it to those who enjoy that pursuit. I use the park often, and when it was a golf course, that was all that could be allowed to be there. I know that wasn't the intention of the golfers, but nobody else wanted to be there when there were discs flying around.

After the disc golf was banned, I have seen much more use of the park by families. I have never been there when it wasn't 120 dgrees out when there wasn't kids playing on the equipment, throwing balls, etc.

If one really wants to pursue that sport, the city has provided another place to do that, one where it belongs.
