Dear Residents of Riverheights, Ridgewood Park and Seminole Heights,
Thanks for being active in spreading this extremely important information out to our residents. If I can only ask you to preface this information with the following information included to all our residents so that they have a better grasp of what these zoning amendments are and what and who they possibly impact.
In Lay terms this amendment to the zoning may forever impact any resident or owner who lives on or near the Hillsborough River Northward from the Columbus Drive Bridge to the Dam in Temple Terrace. In our Neighborhood specifically if you live on Charter, Ridge, Shoreview Place, Perry AVE, Ridge Ave, and Riverside Drive. This city is proposing changing your setbacks on the river from 5 feet to 30 feet for various uses such as pools, sheds, and walkways. This will be done without input from the neighborhood or the property owners impacted if we do not spread the word for people to attend these workshops. If you live on the river or know someone who does please pass this information on, an informed community is essential with these type of changes that impact hundreds of landowners throughout Tampa. If you have a home you may not be able to expand or add on, add a pool, sidewalk, Jacuzzi or hot tub, sidewalk, or diveway, garage or green house, or even a shed, in the area near 30 feet of the river. You need to know this and ask why this is proposed.
Thanks,
ALERT!
Please contact Catherine Coyle, Zoning Administrator for the time and place. 813-274-8405
Tampa City Council will be considering the proposed revisions to the waterfront setback language later this year. You will find the proposed language and process schedule attached for your review and comment. Please feel free to call our office at 274-8405 to discuss the language with one of our planners.
The language was originally proposed in the July 2007 Text Amendment Cycle, but was moved by City Council to the current cycle. We are more than happy to take your comments on the proposed language and also advise that you attend one of the upcoming "Public Information Meetings" as well as the City Council Workshop and subsequent public hearings, if you have issues that you would like to be heard.
Thank you again for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Catherine Coyle
