APPLIANCE/ELECTRONICS COLLECTION AND RECYCLING

In April 2001, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, through its Waste Reduction Assistance Grant program, funded the City of Phoenix Appliance/Electronics Collection and Recycling Program. Funding is to be used for the purchase of two vehicles and equipment for the collection and ultimate recycling of appliances from Phoenix residents.

What items are acceptable?
Refrigerators Washer/Dryers
Water Heaters Freezers
Air Conditioners Evaporative Coolers
Stoves Dishwashers
ComputersfMonitors Stereos

Residents should follow these steps first:
Put appliances at front of property (not in alley).
--> Secure or remove all doors.
* Remove any water/food from appliances (they must be empty).
Refrigerant lines and compressor must be intact.
Next:
* Call the Solid Waste Customer Service Call Center at 602-262-7251 to set up collection or email pwserve@phoenix.gov. Make sure to supply the type and quantity of materials to be collected as well as your name, address and phone. Collection will not be possible without this information.
* The Call Center will create an RFS (request for service) to the Solid Waste Special Operations Unit.
* Within 72 hours (1-3 business days) the Solid Waste Special Operation Unit will collect appliances/computers from the residence.
* A solid waste representative will leave notice at the residence indicating how they are to be billed and other important information.
The resident will receive billing within two weeks. Please follow the payment guidelines.
The Cost?

Cost to residents is $10 per visit. . . ☺
