Parking: do it the dustproof way

Jul 19, 2003

Compliance with the parking and dust proofing provisions of the Neighborhood Preservation Ordinance can have a big impact on the appearance of a neighborhood.

The city requires all surfaces used for parking or maneuvering vehicles to be dustproof surfaces and the rule applies to the moving or storage of trailers as well as to cars and trucks. The definition of dustproof paving is concrete, asphalt, bituminous material or equivalent material that has been approved by the zoning administrator. Single-family and duplex homes have the option of crushed rock or aggregate if the material is between one-quarter and three-quarters of an inch in size, laid at a depth of at least two inches and is contained by a permanent border such as fencing or block.

If you?’re unsure about the kinds of materials and borders that are acceptable for dustproofing or about the amount of yard you can use for parking call the Neighborhood Services Department at (602) 262-7844.

Parking areas must have dust proof paving such as concrete, asphalt, bituminous material or equivalent material that has been approved by the zoning. . . ☻
