Victim Compensation . . . By By Officer Freund

Aug 22, 2003

Arizona provides financial assistance to victims of crime through the Victim Compensation Program administered through your County Attorney's office. If you have been victimized by crime, you may apply for financial assistance for out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a direct result of the crime.

Victim Compensation may help pay for medical expenses, mental health counseling expense, funeral expenses or loss of wages.

The Program cannot consider claims for property loss and damage, pain and suffering, expenses that would benefit the offender or for a person serving a sentence of imprisonment.

You may apply for Victim Compensation if you:
?· Suffered physical injury or extreme mental distress and experienced economic loss as a direct result of the crime or act of international terrorism;
?· Were victimized in Arizona, or are an Arizona resident who has been a victim of international terrorism;
?· Reported the crime or act of international terrorism to a police agency within 72 hours of the crime;
?· Willingly and fully cooperated with the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

If you feel you are eligible for this program, please call the Maricopa County Attorney's Office at 602-506-4955 to request a Victim Compensation Application. . . ☻
