The Phoenix Block Watch Advisory Board . . .by CAO Terry Cooper

Jul 27, 2003

Many of you may or may not be familiar with the Advisory Board so I hope this will be helpful information. They are a non-profit organization with an initial activity to promote and assist the development of Block Watch organizations. Their primary partnership is with the City of Phoenix Police Department. It is their mission to build partnerships between all kinds of people and groups in spite of their differences. To assist and support groups working with at-risk youth, to bridge the gap that citizens sometimes feel between themselves and their elected officials and many other activities that help improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. One of the ways they define Block Watch is a community based education system, which empowers people, not only to become the eyes and ears but more importantly to become the heart of their community. People working together in their own neighborhoods, in their own cities to solve their own problems, to take responsibility got their own destinies. The Advisory Board is in business to be an active partner in the development of community based crime prevention and rebuilding of neighborhoods. The Advisory Board meets the 4th Tuesday of every month at various locations. Anyone can attend these meetings. They are a resource to help your Block Watch succeed. . . ☻
