Presidents Report

Dear Neighbors,

This year is starting out to be a busy one. The Mayor's forum at USF, which was intended to take the place of our monthly board meeting in January, has been moved to January 30th. That means we will hold a board meeting, on January 17th at the Times building. At this meeting, a representative from the School board will give a presentation on a referendum election item. This referendum is an important one to those neighborhoods that are affected.

January 9th the CONA Leadership class began. This year we have another great class of students. Each student is required to attending one of our board meeting in the coming months, this will give us a chance to meet them. Linda Phillips has done a great job of getting this class set up and off to a great start. Also the CONA Leadership alumni has helped out with the preparations.

The first Police Retreat this year will meet on the February 1st, at the Sun Pavilion room. We will get a review of what has happened since the last retreat. Only those who went to the last one will be invited to this retreat.

Susie Ajoc has requested that every new Neighborhood Association President furnish the Neighborhood Partnership Department their phone number and address. These addresses are needed in their effort to get important information out to each Neighborhood Association.

This year we will be electing New City Council Members and a New Mayor. We need to get as many of our neighbors to attend and participate in the many Candidate Forums being held. Remember only an informed voter is a good voter. As you all know our by-laws prohibit the President from supporting any candidates. But, I encourage every neighbor association to support the candidates who best represents the neighborhoods. This is a very IMPORTANT election for all of our neighborhoods, so we need the best people to be elected to these positions.

As always I know you are doing a great job just keep it up.

Your Neighbor, Jim Biggerstaff
