Building a safer, friendlier, and more supportive neighborhood requires committed residents - residents sho volunteer to wrk together for change. Your success working with your team of neighborhood volunteers will be enhanced as you review the basics of team-building and volunteerism. In this session, you will learn:
*Why people volunteer
*7 deadly sins of leading volunteers
*Low to no-cost recognition ideas
*Team "commandments"
*Steps to Collaborative team building.

Creating a Web Page- Oct 14

Does your neighborhood have a web page on the internet? Would you like to let other neighborhoods know what's happening in your special part of the city? Here is your opportunity to learn about the Internet and how to create a website. You will learn to design the layout, import graphics, and create a navigation bar. The development of your neighborhood's very own web page will come alive in this hands-on, computer lab class.

Prerequisites: Basic computer knowledge, including word processing experience and familiarity with the mouse, disk drives, and tool bars. Class size is limited - early enrollment is suggested.

Bring your current newsletter with you and join this interactive class to learn the "how to's" of creating a newsletter by sharing ideas, examples, facts and tricks of the trade, including:

*Prioritizing information and brainstorming ideas
*Effective newsletter layout
*Forcasting expenses, funding and budgeting
*Publishing a newsletter with basic equipment
*Gaining confidence in your writing ability
*Identifying the best method of distribution
