Requirements of Coordinators

 We are in need of addional coordinators.

Coordinator Requirements: (per the handbook)

To become a coordinator you have to submit an application to the Tampa Police Department for a background check. You can not have a criminal record to become a coordinator. The background check is run yearly on the coordinators. This is totally a volunteer job you receive no pay for any duties and no reimbursement for your out-of-pocket costs.

Responsibilities of the Coordinator is as follow (per Tampa Police dept - Coordinators guide book):

1. - Plan, organize and coordinate the time, date and location etc. of all mandatory N.H.w meetings with your assigned Crime Prevention Liasion Officer.

2. Make arrangements for an appropriate, comfortable meeting place for all N.H.W. meetings.

3. Attempt to identify and enlist the assistance of persons willing to be block leaders and conduct periodic planning meetings with them. Efforts should also be made to establish and maintain an open and frequent communication with them.

4. Be responsible for notifying all memebers and potential members of all NHW meeting times, dates and locations etc.

5. Create a "Phone Tree" or emergency contact list of all members participating in the NHW program and diseminate the list to all active members.

6. Convene each NHW meeting and ensure that it is conducted in an orderly manner.

7. Introduce yourself , the Liaison Officer and all special guest or attendees.

8. Ensure that all new residents moving into your NHW area are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the NHW program.

9. Maintain frequent contact with your Crime Prevention Liaison Offer and District Officers, and keep them informed as to allcrime problems, continuing suspicious activity, and other special activities or situations relevant to the NHW program.

10. Serve as a Liaison between the Tampa Police Department and your NHW group and ensure that all NHW members requesting information about NHW receive it, or direct them to the appropriate Crime Prevention Liasion or District Office.

11. Be familiar with the overall basic structure of the Tampa Police Department and it's basic operations.

12. Ensure that two mandatory NHW meetings are held each year at approximately six months intervals with each meeting in compliance with all Tampa Police Department NHW guidelines.

13. Notify your Crime Prevention Liaison Officer in an expeditious manner of all changes in addresses, phone numbers, meeting locations and block leaders etc.
