Scrappy Bulldogs: Database of Jackass Drivers

Summer 2001

I wonder why we haven't done this sooner!

*Crossing I-17 @ Northern Ave, westbound). A.M.

A United States Postal Vehicle #0203803, first having run a yellow light, he then decided to tailgate us at both an unsafe speed and he was following too closely, during a road merge.

J. Bulldog was driving. We were in the far right lane, he was in the middle lane. When I looked back and over to see what he was going to do; I saw him looking in his left side mirror as if he were trying to get over to his left. He was unable to do the amount of heavy traffic. His one alternative; slow the hell down! Had he hit us he would have been at fault.

Where was the driver of the USPS truck going? He went into the Safeway shopping center at 35th and Northern Avenues; to Long John Silver's drive-thru. We were heading to Hallmark in the same shopping center.

Upon leaving Hallmark, we spotted a similar style USPS truck. I said to J. Bulldog, "Hey, look, it's your buddy." to which he responded, that it was not the same driver. That the first driver was a man; this was a woman delivering her route.

It turns out this was not even the driver of the truck # 0203803's route! He was just h?–ngry! Too hongry to pay attention to the rules and safety of other drivers on the road!

I have spoken to Paul a supervisor at USPS station Washington. He said he would take care of this matter. I did have to make two phone calls. The second phone call was made after 24 hours had passed and no one had contacted us. Paul was given the message while we were finishing up the conversation.

He was informed that I had written to Gov. Hull and that I would likely be putting up this info on my webpage.

I-17 Dunlap to Greenway

We spotted a van for the First Freeway Assembly of God Church. He was going an unhealthy speed of at least 70+ and changing lanes (three times) w/o the benefit of a signal.

When I contacted that church, the receptionist was taken back that someone would wish to talk to the church's pastor regarding a driver.

When I spoke to Randy, Asst. Pastor, he denied that he had anyone up in the Greenway exit area.

I told him I know my exits and this person who was in the age range of 45-55 was indeed exiting at Greenway Road.

He then said he knew who it was; although he gave no idication that he would talk to this person or any apologies to us.

He was informed that I had written to Gov. Hull and that I would likely be putting up this info on my webpage.

I-17 Northbound Greenway to north of the 101 loop towards Deer Valley Road.

Chas Roberts Air Conditioning
This dolt screamed by at a very high rate of speed. Likely in the 75+ mph range. Traffic was heavy as it was still in the Noon - 12:15 time zone.

I could only make out the last number a 4 (four) of the small yellow stickers on the back of their trucks.

If they really wanted us to report unsafe drivers, Chas Roberts would make their numbered stickers larger!

On the return ride home. (We decided to come home rather than continue with our destination. The traffic was so disgusting).

We spotted another Chas Roberts vehicle, southbound at I-17 and Peoria. This number was 773. He was driving at a reasonable and prudent speed. He was not changing lanes, greedily. He was just moseying along, safely. He deserves recognition for safe driving.

Chas Roberts complaint line is: 331-2687. They were contacted by phone.

Northbound I-17 T-Bird to Greenway.
Sun State company truck

We were in the carpool lane. Our speed was approx 55-60 MPH, just as it'd been the entire time we were on the road for this short time.

UP from behind came a "Sun State" driver in a truck. He decided that he needed to RIDE MY ASS in an effort to make me pull over and get out of his way or to speed up. I chose to slow down.

No one is going to intimidate me. IF they'd like to drive like an ass; they will get their day too on my webpage!

Again, no license plate as they scream by at a high rate of speed. Cannot drive and write when they are going 70+ mph. Can't see the license plates or the tiny stickers from that distance.

Believe me when I say I saw more dolts screaming down I-17. I simply could not take down all the info. God knows I'd have love it and have the time.

You see it makes no difference to Scrappy Baker if it's a church vehicle, government vehicle or a business vehicle. If there's a name on the side of the vehicle and we can get a description.

The information will be written down and called in!

The only favorites we play are the ones that save lives.

Slow the Hell down!

The Annoying Ice Cream Vendors

EVERYDAY

Glen Canyon Vista Neighborhood is being bombarded with ice cream trucks that blare their music, scream down the street as if they're heading to the nearest fire and they turn around in our drives.

Some neighbors have reported hearing them a block away and having them leave their music on while parked and selling their wares.

I have personally witnessed all the complaints.

What we have to do is follow Officer Icela Brown's recommendations. Officer Brown is our CAO (community action officer) for the Phoenix Police Dept. She recomends taking down the location, date and time, the license plate and brief description of the vendor's vehicle and calling that information in to her @ 534-2424 x 9010.

She will then look up the license plate in the police's database and make a personal appearance at their home. She's done it for me and we've seen a considerable drop in their annoying behavior, following my reports to Officer Brown.

Of course, just as soon as the "heat" blows over, they are creeping back into their old ways and I'll continue to take down their reports of violations like running stop signs (augusta and 26th ave) and speeding. This one I mention is the tan ice cream van. He screams down the road. I've clocked him going 30MPH down Hayward from 27th to 26th. He tends to stay off of Augusta anymore, as i like to wave at him. LOLOLOLOL!

They are just a general nuisance!

Comments?

If you are the driver of one of these vehicles or the manager/owner and would like to write us; bring it on!

I'll display your comments and share them with our city council and governor, gladly.

Slow down the life you save may be your own!
