Angels Watching Over Us...

Barbara was driving her six-year-old son, Benjamin, to his piano lesson. They were late, and she was beginning to think she should have canceled it.

There was always so much to do, and Barbara, a night-duty nurse at the local hospital, had recently worked extra shifts. She was tired.

The sleet storm and icy roads added to her tension. Maybe she should turn the car around. Mom!" Ben cried. "Look!" Just ahead a car had lost control on a patch of ice.

As Barbara tapped the brakes, the other car spun wildly, rolled over, then crashed sideways into a telephone pole. Barbara pulled over, skidded to a stop and threw open her door.

Thank goodness she was a nurse-she might be able to help these unfortunate
passengers. Then she paused. What about Ben? She couldn't take him with her-little boys shouldn't see scenes like the one she anticipate. But was it safe to leave him alone?

What if their car were hit from behind? For a brief moment Barbara considered going on her way. Someone else was sure to come along. No! "Ben, honey, promise me you'll stay in the car!" "I will, Mommy," he said as she ran, slipping and sliding, toward the crash site. It was worse than she'd feared.

Two girls of high school age were in the car. One, the blonde on the passenger side, was dead, killed on impact. The driver, however was still breathing. She was unconscious
and pinned in the wreckage. Barbara quickly applied pressure to the wound in the teenager's head while her practiced eye catalogued the other injuries. A broken leg, maybe two, along with probable internal bleeding. Maybe if help came soon, the girl would live.

A trucker had pulled up and was calling for help on his cellular phone.
Soon Barbara heard the ambulance sirens. A few moments later she surrendered her lonely post to rescue workers. "Good job," one said as he examined the driver's wounds. "You probably saved her life, ma'am."

But as Barbara walked back to her car a feeling of sadness overwhelmed her,
especially for the family of the girl who had died. Their lives would never be the same. Oh God, why do such things have to happen? Slowly Barbara opened her car door. What should she tell Benjamin? He was staring at the crash site, his blue eyes huge.

"Mom," he whispered, "did you see it?"
"See what, Honey?" she asked.
"The angel, Mom! He came down from the sky while you were running to the car.
And he opened the door, and he took that girl out."

Barbara's eyes filled with tears.
"Which door, Ben?"
"The passenger side. He took the girl's hand, and they floated up to Heaven together."
"What about the driver?" Ben shrugged. "I didn't see anyone else."

Later Barbara was able to meet the families of the victims. They expressed their gratitude for the help she had provided. Barbara was able to give them something more-Ben's vision.

There was no way he could have known-by ordinary means-who was in the car or what had happened to either of the passengers. Nor could the passenger door have been opened; Barbara had seen it's tangle of immovable steel herself. Yet Ben's account brought
consolation to a grieving family.

Their daughter was safe in Heaven. And they would see her again.

A Prayer For Angels

I prayed for Angels to guard you night and day.
I prayed they would hover and keep harm away.
If you hear the swish of wings or feel a gentle touch.
I know God heard my prayer today and loves you very much.

"Angels in the Alley"

Diane, a young Christian university student, was home for the summer. She
had gone to visit some friends one evening and the time passed quickly as
each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up
staying longer than she had planned and had to walk home alone. But she
wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks
away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked "God" to
keep her safe from harm and danger.

When she reached the alley, which was a little short cut to her house, she
decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man
standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and
began to pray, asking for God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped around her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely.

The following day, she read in the paper that a young girl had been raped in that same alley, just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling
overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she
began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and wanting to help this
young woman who was attacked, she decided to go to the police station. She felt sure she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The
police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him? She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had
seen in the alley the night before.

When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed.

The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if their was anything
they could do for her? She asked if they would please ask the man one
question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the
police asked him, he aswered,
"Because she wasn't alone. She had two
tall figures walking on either side of her"

Moral of the story . . . . Don't underestimate the power of prayer.

God Bless. . . .

God, you've brought me through many battles
And, hard as the journey has been,
I've never been lonely or frightened
Because I know you are my friend.

Others are living in darkness,
Not seeing that you are divine.

If there aren't enough angels to show them the way,
Lend them an angel of mine.

The world in the news can be awful,
And I've had my share of pain,
But you've given me what I needed,
And comfort in the rain.

Other lives are in turmoil and upset,
And I'm sure you'll see to it I'm fine-
Where there is hate and destruction,
Please lend them an angel of mine.

It isn't that I don't need you,
But I already know you are there-
Watching and protecting
With the tenderest of care.

Sometimes, the suffering of others
I've caused, and although I'm blind,
I'd like to think, when they're hurting,
You've lent them an angel of mine.

Angels & Animals (in Heaven)

A Little Dog Angel

High up in the courts of heaven today
a little dog angel waits;
with the other angels he will not play,
but he sits alone at the gates.

"For I know my master will come" says he, "and when he comes he will call for me."

The other angels pass him by
As they hurry toward the throne,
And he watches them with a wistful eye
as he sits at the gates alone.

"But I know if I just wait patiently
that someday my master will call for me."

And his master, down on earth below,
as he sits in his easy chair,
forgets sometimes, and whispers low
to the dog who is not there.

And the little dog angel cocks his ears
and dreams that his master's voice he hears.

And when at last his master waits
outside in the dark and cold,
for the hand of death to open the door,
that leads to those courts of gold,
he will hear a sound through the gathering dark, a little dog angel's bark.

A Dog for Jesus

I wish someone had given Jesus a dog
As loyal and loving as mine
To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog
Would have followed Him all through the day
While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.

It is sad to remember that Christ went away
To face death alone and apart
With no tender dog following close behind
To comfort its Master's Heart.

And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn
How happy He would have been
As His dog kissed His hands and barked its delight
For The One who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now,
I just sent Him mine the old pal so dear to me
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone
Knowing they're in eternity.

Day after day, the whole day through
Wherever my road inclined
Four feet said, "I am coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.

A Prayer For Animals

Hear our humble prayer, Oh God, for our friends the animals, especially for ones who are suffering; for any that are lost or deserted or frightened or hungry. We entreat for them all thy mercy and pity.

For those who deal with them, we ask a heart of compassion, gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and to show thy blessings to the merciful.

Will there be animals in heaven?

God has a special reason and place for each of His created beings. Animals, too, are a part of an orderly creation by God. Man, as the highest order of creation, has been given dominion over the animal kingdom (Genesis 1:26-28). We believe that animals were intended for man's enjoyment and use. The Bible itself does not indicate that there is life after death for animals. It may be that God's purpose for animals is fulfilled on this earth. However, if animals would make us happier in heaven, surely there will be a place for them there. Some Bible interpreters have called attention to Isaiah's description of the peace of God's future kingdom where he says that "the wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox" (Isaiah 65:25). Heaven will lack nothing that is good and that will bring glory to God.

~ Rev. Billy Graham

The Cat's Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!
