Stripping of Arizona

(No not that kind of stripping - Stripes on the road!)
The homeowner?’s board was presented with a traffic problem at Arizona and Sable. Apparently, the
Arizona traffic backs up in the mornings because of the Sable, or more specifically Gateway High School, traffic. After talking to the City, there were only 2 options available to us.
The 1st option, which has already been done, was to install ?‘DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION?” signs on Sable at the Arizona intersection.
The 2nd option, is to stripe Arizona from Sable to Dillon. This will involve several changes. A yellow line will be painted down the center to designate eastbound and westbound traffic. The eastbound lanes will then also have a designated left and right turn. In order to stripe the street, several parking spaces will be eliminated. On the north side of Arizona, from Sable west to the 1st driveway, only one vehicle will be allowed to park. This will be in the space closest to the driveway. One the south side of Arizona, approximately 3-4 vehicles will be allowed to park east of the current NO PARKING sign.
Unfortunately, the option of have a traffic light installed is not feasible. If we, The Aspens, were successful in getting Gateway High School to realign their driveway entrances so that one of them was at Arizona, the City would be much more responsive to installing a light. The City has talked to Gateway about this option in the past, however, the school still complains about the traffic too, but will not make any changes to their current design.
Before the City is given the O.K. to proceed and stripe Arizona, the residents are asked to voice their opinion to their board representative. The board will make their decision, based on community feedback, at the next board meeting. Residents are invited to attend the meeting to also voice their opinion.
