Closing westside streets

Posted in: Garden City

Do you think that a group of appointed people in the town of Speedway should be deciding what streets we need and those we don't?
Speedway Redevelopment Commission (SRC) is planning to get Grande Aveneu on the south side of the town (half of which lies within the Indianapolis city limits, not Speedway) that would cut off access from Rockville Rd. (unless you go out of your way to get back to it) via Gasoline Alley.
They also plan to completely close off Georgetown Road from 16th to 25th Street eliminating an easy functional (4 lanes) route to anything north of the IMS track we might want to visit. You can go over to Lynhurst but it is 30 mph and has numerous 25 mph school zones on the same stretch. All Coke bottling plant trucks will also be rerouted to compete with traffic in same area.
What do you think?
Would you sign a petition against closing either of these streets? Contact GGCCA president at anderson@mcanaindy.org if you will.
