Fireworks-STIFF Fines/Visits by Police

For anyone who may have missed the news in the paper, radio or TV, fines for fireworks have doubled. If you shoot off fireworks anywhere in Milwaukee County it is an automatic fine $500-$1000. Parents of Minors shooting off fireworks will get an automatic $1000. ticket. So if lets say you have 3 kids shooting off fireworks with Dad or Mom you are looking at $3500. to $4000. in fines.

The new twist is if a complaint of fireworks is called in to Police, they may not come and catch you in the act, but they may show up at your door the next day or following week with a ticket for you-mailing a ticket you may happen as well if the person calling it in knows you.

Many of us remember the 2 garage fires that were a result of bottle rockets on a fourth in the past.

So correct me if I'm wrong, your basically guilty with no proof.  So if you really dislike a neighbor you could seriously screw someone over with no proof of them even ever shooting a bottle rocket. Just tell the Police so-and so lit a fire cracker and boom a 1000 dollar ticket.   That's a bunch of crap!!!

Don't think it's as cut and dried as that.

Anyone making the complaint would have to be a complaintant on record, meaning if the ticket is contested the complatent would have to appear in Court and swear under oath as to what they saw, heard, etc.

Get used to this kind of policing. There is now something called Priority 5, and Diferential Response, Police may not respond immediately when you call, but may show up the next day, and based on information provided  take appropriate action based on the complaint. The call information is diseminated to appropriate units, such as Community Prosecution Officers, Community Liason Officers, Drug/Gang Unit, etc.  This does not apply to crimes in progress.
