Does anyone have a good way to circulate the air from the lower level to the upper level and visa versa?  The lower level is always too cool (69) and the upper level can be way too hot on sunny days or days like today.  We hate to have to run the AC so much.

We were told if you ran the fans on both levels that would work - but it doesn't.

If we could bring the cooler air up from below, we could really save some energy.

I'm not sure what you mean by running fans on both levels?  We've had some luck placing a floor fan at the base of the stairs and having it push air up the stairs.  The stronger the fan the better.

Each thermostat has an option for the fan to be on "auto" or "on".  We were told that if you have both upper and lower thermostat set to have the fan on continuously there would be air movement from one floor to the other.  We tried that and it made no difference.  We will have to try the fan at the base of the stairs.  Thanks!

Well, these are dual zone (independent) systems, as I understand it.  My experience has been that you can't run the fan (there's only one fan) in both areas and have air pumped to both zones at the same time -- the upper system seems to have priority.  Besides, each level would only pull air from that level and push it back to that level if they were able to run at the same time.  I've noticed that in the winter, the upper level will take precedence over the lower level, even stopping the lower level to have the upper level temperature raised to its setting.  I may have this all wrong.  Maybe someone with more knowledge about dual zone systems can comment.
