While you already know your way around the Internet, do you have family members or friends who would like to learn? Thanks to AT&T, staff at the Phoenix Public Library teach over 200 classes each year on the library's electronic resources, including the Internet.
Classes are kept small in size to provide individualized attention. They are scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends to meet the needs of a diverse population. Some classes are held specifically for the deaf and hearing impaired. The quality and consistency of the instruction are carefully monitored through effectiveness ratings, instructor evaluation, and student feedback.
Classes offered include:

* Introduction to the Internet & Basic Navigation of the WWW - what are the differences between the Internet and World Wide Web; basic web navigational tools; what is and how to enter a URL; how to do a basic search on the web.

* Advanced WWW Searching - how to conduct a concise search using WWW search engines, evaluate web sites, and "bookmark" sites.

|
* Specialized WWW Classes - key sites and successful search strategies on key topics, like finding a job, business, investments, health, and government resources.

* Introduction to ValleyCat - how to do a basic search of the Library's online catalog; what other resources can be reached from there.
|
|
* Advanced Use of ValleyCat - how to conduct a concise search of the Library's online catalog using limits and related works; search other electronic resources from the catalog.

|
* Specialized Electronic Information Resources - how to use the library's Local Area Network of CD-ROM products to your best advantage; decide if the best answer is on CD-ROM, WWW, or in print.
