AT&T's "Wireless For The Community" program allows non-profit organizations within AT&T's wireless service area in Arizona to request free use of wireless phones and unlimited local airtime for a two-year period as a communications tool to increase the effectiveness of their community programs. Examples of eligible non-profit organizations include, but are not limited to, neighborhood crime watch groups, safe houses for battered women, anti-drunk driving groups, and vanpool programs for the elderly and handicapped.
Written requests from eligible groups will be accepted beginning October 15, 1998 through November 30, 1998. Wireless phones and airtime will be awarded for a two-year period to the organizations best demonstrating how wireless communications will improve the quality of life in their communities.
The Wireless For The Community program is an integral part of AT&T's expanding public safety program in Arizona. The program exemplifies how critical a wireless communications tool is for improving the effectiveness of non-profit agency's service delivery.
