Each year, more than 300,000 Americans suffer cardiac arrest in their homes, workplaces, and places of recreation. Each year, over 2 million Americans are hospitalized because of injuries -- over 142,000 die, some needlessly. Knowing what to do in a life-threatening situation may save the life of a loved one. Your training in CPR, first aid, or other safety class may make the difference. Your Red Cross instructor's goal is to teach you not only how to respond to emergencies, but how to prevent them. Here is a sampling of classes offered by local Red Cross Chapters: * CPR (Adult or Infant/Child) * First Aid * Healthy Pregnancy/Healthy Baby prenatal care * Babysitting * Emergency Response * HIV/AIDS prevention education * Lifeguard training (seasonal) * Water Safety * Pet CPR/First Aid Some classes and course materials are available in Spanish. Advanced training is also available for public safety professionals or persons interested in furthering their current skills.
