Dispute Settlement Program
The courtroom isn't always the best solution to a problem. Mediation can be a quicker and more thorough way to reach a resolution. The CRC's Dispute Settlement Program (DSP) provides mediation and conciliation services for Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents. Commonly mediated issues include neighborhood situations, consumer complaints, misdemeanor criminal charges, employee-employer disputes and landlord-tenant disagreements.

In some cases, mediation is an appropriate alternative to court. Mediation allows parties to talk about conflict in a safe, respectful environment with the help of a trained mediator. The mediation process assists people in identifying the needs and issues that are important to them. In most cases, disputing parties create a satisfactory written agreement that outlines a solution to their problems.
