Last week, we added two new service features available through CMPD.org
Starting September 25th, victims of crime can get a free copy of their crime report online. And, the department will start logging significant events so people can get basic information about major public safety issues. Both services can be found under the ?“E-Policing?” section of the home page and each is designed to increase convenience and accessibility.
Significant Event Log--What You Need to Know:
This new feature is an expansion -- and takes the place of -- the Watch Commander?’s Log, which covered after-hours events and was emailed to staff and the Media weekday mornings. It will provide a record of preliminary reports of public safety incidents, such as significant crimes, missing persons and arrests, over a 24-hour period. Necessarily brief because we will be posting the information as close to real time as information is available, the Log will have a description of the incident and suspect information if we have it.
Because the Log is now be online and information will be posted as close to real time as information is available, the Log will not be emailed to anyone
Like the Watch Commander?’s Log, the Significant Event Log is based on preliminary field reports. It can be edited to update a case
Crime Reports--What You Need to Know:
Victims of crime will be able to get a free copy of their crime report by entering both the complaint (report) number and their name. Due to the nature of certain crimes, however, some reports will only be available in person, including sexual assaults, domestic violence, suicides and vice and narcotics cases. These and all other public reports can be obtained from CMPD?’s Records Division at either of the following locations: CMPD Headquarters at 601 East Trade Street and the West Service Area at 4150 Wilkinson Blvd. This service is provided under contract with CMPD by PoliceReports.US.
